(theatrical trailer)

This Theatrical Trailer for Tokyo Ghoul, the first live-action adaptation of the popular animated series of the same name, was one of many items I produced (along with composer/mixer Andrew Manson) leading up to the film’s US release. The trailer was the anchor promotional piece, setting the tone for all subsequent items. Having worked on campaigns for the animated series, this was a particularly interesting project. As with all live-action adaptations, meeting and setting expectations is the main brand challenge, and with limited time and budget, the brand and creative team pulled together a slick and sophisticated campaign with hollywood polish and horror appeal.

As the Funimation Creative Team’s Video Brand Lead and Brand Steward for Cowboy Bebop, I had the opportunity and pleasure of editing this Theatrical Trailer for the 2018 US theatrical run of Cowboy Bebop The Movie: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, along with a number of other deliverables. This film, originally released in Japan in 2000 and then in the US in 2004, was already a beloved and iconic film for fans of the original animated series. Mindful of fan expectations, I wanted very much to honor this title with tonal precision, utilizing the movie’s acclaimed music score (Yoko Kanno) and a fun blend of comedy, art-house aesthetic, and retro-cool fan service.

This trailer is also the winner of:
Gold W3 Award
Gold Award for Online Video (2019)

This Short Documentary-Style Promotional Video celebrates the first North American Blu-ray release of Cowboy Bebop, the Iconic Animated Series. With the project, our team was given a loose prompt and a tiny budget. The result is this energetic and sincere love letter for a beloved fixture of pop culture. The team shares their excitement and and enthusiasm, expressing their love for the series and describing their contributions to the release.
